GDRFA are no longer allowing family and dependant's visas to be placed on hold

Family and Dependants Hold Process No Longer Accepted at GDRFA - The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs - GDRFA are no longer allowing family and dependant’s visas to be placed on hold whilst the sponsor’s visa is cancelled and a new visa obtained.

Previously a sponsor could place all family members and dependants under their sponsorship, on hold - this meant that whilst the sponsor’s visa was cancelled and a new visa obtained, the family could remain on their visas in limbo and then, once the sponsors new visa finalised, reinstated under their sponsorship.

However a recent change within the immigration department has now stopped this process. If a sponsor is cancelling their visa in order to gain a new visa they must first cancel their family and dependant’s visas. Once their new visa has been finalised they can then re-apply for the family and dependants visas.
