Industrial Licences in Abu Dhabi can now add Commercial and Service Activities

Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) announces today that Industrial Licences in the Emirate can now add Commercial Activities and Service Activities to the same licence.

In accordance with Decision No. 145 of 2020 of the Chairman of the Department of Economic Development regarding the regulation of the conduct of economic activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Previously the company would have to set up a separate licence in order to conduct Commercial or Service Activities these rules have now been relaxed to allow an Industrial unit to also undertake these activities where it related to their products.

The activities allowed to be added will now include:

  1. Import and Export
  2. Trading in products
  3. Installation of products
  4. Maintenance of products and equipment
  5. Transportation of products
  6. Product design
  7. Management and operation
  8. Online trading through websites and social media platforms
  9. Onshore and offshore oil and gas fields and facilities services (ADNOC / SPC approval)
  10. Engineering Consultancy and Research

Allowing the Addition of Some Commercial and Service Activities to the Industrial License

Intending to facilitate procedures for investors, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development allows the addition of some Commercial and Service Activities to the industrial license in accordance with Decision No. 145 of 2020 of the Chairman of the Department of Economic Development regarding the regulation of the conduct of economic activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Conducting Commercial and Service Activities:

  • Adding Commercial and Service activities is applicable for the Industrial License in the Production status only.
  • In case of conducting commercial activities offsite within the country, the industrial establishment should obtain a license for a branch.
  • If the commercial activities are being conducted On-Site, the activities should be added to the industrial license

The activities allowed to be added will include:

  1. Import.
  2. Export.
  3. Selling factory's products.
  4. Installation of factory's products.
  5. Maintenance of factory's products.
  6. Maintenance of factory's equipment.
  7. Transportation of factory's products.
  8. Factory's products design.
  9. Distribution of factory's products.
  10. Management and operation.
  11. Online trading through websites.
  12. Online trading through social media platforms.
  13. Onshore and offshore oil and gas fields and facilities services.
  14. Consultations, studies, and research in the field of natural sciences and engineering.
