The Dubai Municipality introduced Local Order No.89 of 1994 in order to regulate the engineering consultancy industry and ensure that National and Foreign Companies were capable of undertaking the work they were tendering for. This Order was subsequently updated and amended by Orders 103 of 1997 and Order 4 of 1999 and Administrative Decision 51 of 1998. These Orders seek to classify engineering firms in the Emirate of Dubai, which must fall into one of the following four categories;
These firms then would practise in the following recognised fields;
Engineering Consultancy and Contractor Classification with Dubai Municipality is based on number of floors that a project is based on and not overall project value. Registered Engineers will need their detailed qualifications to be attested through the UAE Embassy in the country of origin and can be sent to PPG for stamping and legal translation.
