Health Certificate

Under Law No. 8 of 1990, the Food Safety Department at the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) implemented the public health policy regarding food safety and carries out the responsibilities entrusted to it by the MOPH.

The law requires that all employees who are working in the food sector must take a medical examination. This service is provided by the Medical Commission Department (MOPH) only.

Who are the Employees Eligible to take the Medical exam?

Any employee working in the food sector, despite his/her job occupation must have a valid health certificate. The validity of the health certificate is one year, and it should be renewed every year.

This extends to employees working with food at events in Qatar such as when the FIFA world cup was hosted in 2022.

What are the Requirements for the Health Certificate?

The requirements are outlined as below:

  • Valid Qatar visa or Copy of Hayya Card and Hayya Visa of event organisers
  • Valid Qatar resident permit
  • Passport-size photo
  • Copy of the employee’s previous medical license in case of renewal, transfer of sponsorship, or change of job
  • Copy of the company commercial registration and establishment card
