How to get a Ministry of Health (MOH) Licence in Oman
Getting an MOH licence in Oman is a mandatory requirement for all healthcare professionals who want to practice in the country. The licence is required for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to work in both government and private healthcare institutions throughout Oman. Whether you are setting up a medical business or working for a healthcare institution in Oman, all individuals practicing in the profession must obtain a licence.
Know the licensing authority and service channels
The MOH licence process in Oman is managed by Directorate General of Human Resources, specifically by Directorate of Registration & Licensing of Healthcare Professions. The service is delivered through eHealth Portal, an online platform where you can submit your documents and track your application.
Check eligibility and gather your documents
Before applying, you should check if you meet the requirements and have all the necessary documents. The process is open to all healthcare professionals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals whether inside or outside Oman.
You will need:
- Qualifications - Basic and specialisation degrees related to your profession.
- Transcripts - Academic records of your qualifications.
- Experience certificates - Documents proving your work experience in your healthcare profession.
- Previous registration/medical licence - Copy of your existing registration or licence from another country, if applicable.
Any other documents that may support your application. These can be professional recommendations or additional certifications.
Note: All documents must be in Arabic or English. If not, they must be translated. Sovereign PPG can support with translation services for Oman documents.
The Application Process for MOH
Once you have all the documents, you will be able to apply online. First login or create an account on eHealth Portal. This is the platform where you will submit your application and communicate with MOH for your status.
Once you have filled in the application form, upload all the required documents. Make sure each document is clear, complete and as per MOH requirements. Incomplete or incorrect submission may lead to delay or rejection of your application.
The MOH licence in Oman is currently free of charge. If there are any fees in the future, it will be paid through eHealth Portal as part of the application process.
Once submitted, your application will be forwarded to the concerned section for review. This is where the Directorate of Registration & Licensing of Healthcare Professions will check your documents against their criteria and confirm if you meet the requirements.
During the review, you may receive feedback asking for additional information or clarification. Respond promptly and accurately to avoid delay. An application can be returned for corrections up to 3 times. If the requirements are not met after 3 times, the application will be rejected.
If your application is approved, you will receive a registration number. This is your official licence to practice in Oman.
Service completion period
The MOH aims to complete the process within 5 working days from the date of application submission. However, this may vary depending on the accuracy of your application and your prompt response to feedback.
Key points to remember
